Fairytale sculptures in Scheveningen

On a beautiful sunny-day we went to the beach of Scheveningen with the photo hobby club to shoot some themed images. While walking its boulevard, you pass a large outdoor terrace with fairytale sculptures. These belong to the “Beelden aan Zee museum” and there are twenty-three sculptures, all created by Tom Otterness. They are so cute and photographed a lot. Here’s my take on it.

Elf Fantasy Fair - Arcen

Every year there’s an Elf Fantasy Fair in Haarzuilens near Utrecht (NL). This year it was also being organized at the venue of the Castle Gardens in Arcen. Naturally we went dressed in our renaissance costumes and had great fun. Although it is very difficult to do some serious photo shooting while you are part of the parading itself, I managed to make a few photo’s which are presented in the gallery as usual.

Fabric Market

A fabric market gives you a lot of opportunities to shoot marvelous patterns and colors. These photo’s were taken while my wife was combing the paths for some new cloth. The market was held in Gouda, a Dutch city famous for it’s city hall. More photographs are in the gallery.

Maeslantkering

The Maeslantkering is a huge storm surge barrier in the Nieuwe Waterweg, which is a waterway located in the Netherlands, close to Hoek van Holland. The barrier automatically closes when needed. It is part of the Dutch Delta Works and known to be one of largest moving structures on Earth. If you wan to know more about this wonder of engineering then visit the website of  Het Keringhuis. As usual, more images are posted in a web album.
