Emergency Teams

During the celebrations of the Queen’s birthday a large presentation was organised for the local emergency teams. Material and people were available from the fire-brigade, a diver’s team, and the ambulance services. We were invited by the Fire-brigade of Rockanje to represent the Brandwondenstichting (a foundation for burn injuries and wounds). During impressive presentations I was able to shoot some interesting pictures.

Elf Fantasy Fair, Haarzuilen

The Dutch Elf Fantasy Fair has grown into to a major event in the country for people wanting to be someone different for a day. Being regular visitors we can say it was unsurpassed. A beautiful ambiance, fantastic people, and the best weather in the world. It is difficult to explain what this fair actually is all about, but the pictures will tell the story using all colours of the rainbow.

Marriage-Horror

Imagine you are married for twenty-five years, and it has been a good marriage … how do you celebrate that? You need some horror! My sister and brother-in-law organised a horror party, and many family and friends came over to congratulate them. And all of this in Halloween style of course. Elf Fantasy Fair – Arcen

Every year there’s an Elf Fantasy Fair in Haarzuilens near Utrecht (NL). This year it was also being organized at the venue of the Castle Gardens in Arcen. Naturally we went dressed in our renaissance costumes and had great fun. Although it is very difficult to do some serious photo shooting while you are part of the parading itself, I managed to make a few photo’s which are presented in the gallery as usual.

Castlefest

Every now and then you must do something extraordinary in your live. Since we were always interested in fantasy fairs and medieval related kind of festivals we came to the conclusion it was time to dress up and visit the Castlefest in costume. All clothing we wear is self-made by my wife. Actually she’s becoming a pretty good clothier.

Ballooning from Amersfoort to Barneveld

Sometimes you get lucky, and you win a free ride in a balloon. On a sunny winter day we headed to Amersfoort and helped preparing for take-off. I can tell you, ballooning is a unique experience. Thanks to the Pilot (Peter Barlo) and his crew (Gerda en Piet Pool) the flight (more than an hour) was smooth, but exciting. I can recommend the website of Dutch Ballooning, and Peter’s website.

Open day at ship yards Damen and Merwede

The Dutch are famous for their seamanship. Also their is a rich history in shipbuilding. Once a year our shipyards open their gates and people are allowed to go backstage and peek in the world of ship building. I paid a visit to Damen in Hardinxveld-Giesendam and Merwede in Gorinchem. More photo’s in my gallery (Damen, Merwede). these photo’s were taken with my new Fujifilm s100fs.
