Since my daughter lives in Spain we have a good excuse to visit this country every now and then. This time we went in February, and I can tell you it was cold, wet and windy. Luckily we have also enjoyed a few warmer days and were able to visit nice places in Portugal like Braga and Guimaraes. If you walk such towns it is as if time stood still. But also contrast; Amazing beauty and incomprehensible rubbish live next to each other. I’ll show you some of the beauty;
We were in a lucky position to celebrate our holidays in a warm and beautiful place. Hotel Stone Palace in Colakli, near Side in Turkey is a not too large resort where you can enjoy the good things of life; clear water in the swimming pool, sun beds, good food and entertainment. To get an impression of the Hotel, and it’s surroundings visit the photo album.
The Netherlands have always been a country of sea, sand, wind and water. In the north there are a few islands which are frequently visited by the Dutch, especially in the summer. However, in autumn it looks much more spectacular. More wind and more water, but maybe a bit cold. Nontheless worth visiting! More photo’s in my gallery …
It seems we are some sort of hooked to Turkey for holidays. This spring we went to Pemar Beach. This is close to Manavgat near Alanya. We had a good time. However, would not recommend this (five
star) resort to our friends. The Hotel offers nothing extra without paying extra. Yet, nice weather, and a beautiful swimming pool made this this a great holiday. We have never been so lazy. Went to bed early every day and slept till late in the morning. The stones on the left are a gift from Michelle (thank you). On the right, you can see my wife trying out a quad on a test-track. However the machine was too heavy for her to handle, so she jumped behind me on the back-seat.
Our daughter lives in Spain nowadays. She’s got herself a Spanish boyfriend and we longed to visit them in Tui (in Galicia), where he lives with his family. Tui has a legendary origin. It is situated on a hill and next to the Portuguese border by the River Mino. There’s so much to discover in this province of Spain which is not yet discovered by tourists. Cities like Pontevedra, Vigo and Santiago de Compostela (famous for it’s Cathedral) are worth visiting, even on a rainy day! This area of Spain is rich with mountains and has many brooklets and streamlets with attractive cascades. But you have to be early in the season to enjoy this. Also it has nice beaches at the west-coast.
Close to Antalya in Turkey lays Lara beach. This beach is famous for it’s array of holiday resorts. Well known are e.g. Titanic, World of Wonders and Green Palace. Miracle resort was good value for money. The rooms are spic and span and very large. Also the bed is very big! Restaurant, food and drink are all OK. One drawback is that the animation team is making a lot of noise and play loud music most part of the day at the pool. We had to flee to the beach if we wanted some peace. If you like to see it from Google Maps, then here’s a link to it’s location, but the image looks rather old, since the hotel is not yet finished on the satellite image. And of course, a photo gallery is available to give you an impression of this beautiful resort. Everybody seems to be smoking in Turkey, and they do that everywhere; even in the restaurants! It would be nice if non-smokers got a better position in this country.
