Nowadays, digital camera’s are very advanced, simple to use and relatively cheap to buy. And since there is no need to print each and every photo (you can view them on high quality monitors) I shoot a lot more.

My Camera’s
Fujifilm Finepix S100FS
[May 2008] From now on, I am the proud owner of a Fujifilm bridge camera with a not so ordinary lens; the s100fs. Although I was very happy with my old camera, this one has a higher resolution sensor, and is more light-sensitive. The range of the lens is also larger. Zooms up to 14X (28-400mm). (Bought May 2008) Read the specifications of the S100FS on dPreview.

Fujifilm Finepix S602Z
[March 2004] I am using this camera since 2003. Although it has effectively only around 3 megapixels (which is not that much anymore) , the quality of the images is superb. Especially the colors are bright and sparkling. But it is the lens (a Fujinon) that really makes the difference. This all-round camera has 6x zoom capabilities, and I always found the macro capabilities an ultimate bonus: Normal macro: 10 cm – 80 cm (3.9 – 31.5 in) and Super macro: 1 cm – 20 cm (0.4 – 7.9 in) Read the specifications of the S602Z on dPreview
A Dutch User Manual: Many Dutch people who bought this camera received a German or French User Guide and are in need for a Dutch manual. Fuji in the Netherlands has not been very helpful and I have also seen dealers that offer a paper copy for 18€ which is of course ridiculous. That’s why I pulled my Dutch manual through the scanner so you can read them. Pages are in jpeg format (images) and put in a single ZIP file.
Olympus AFL
This was my second (analogue) camera and bought somewhere in 1985 or so. Been using a mostly for holliday snapshots and I am in the process of scanning a lot of the pictures that were taken with this camera. According to the Olympus web-site the camera was launched in 1983. The Olympus AFL was one of the first cameras powered by a lithium battery. The high capacity of the built-in battery reduced the strobe flash recharge time to about 1.5 seconds. The nickname “Picasso” derived from the Japanese word “pika,” meaning “flash” from the way in which the camera’s flash operated. I still have this camera in possession and the battery is not empty yet!
Ricoh 500G
The very first camera I owned. For those days a pretty advanced, so called semi-automatic compact camera. You had to load it with standard 35mm film. If I recall correctly there were shutter and aperture priority programs. It was produced 1972 by Taiwan Ricoh Co., Ltd. I must have bought this camera somewhere around 1975 and have used it for 10 years. Sadly enough it got broken and could not be repaired so it was disposed.
FujiMugs
A few years ago I was rather actively submitting photo’s to the FujiMugs Website. At those days, it offered challenges dedicated to the owners of Fujifilm camera’s. Challenges now also have an Open category for all brands and makes of digital cameras.
The Challenge is to take a photo that meets the subject. Photos can be uploaded during a two week entry period (any number of times, but one per member per category), then members vote during the following four days (always over a weekend). The winner of the Main category then chooses the next Challenge subject. Here are some example images that I submitted:
Online album hosting providers
There exists many many hosting sites where you can publish your photo’s. But since I am running my own web server, there is no real need to make use of that.
- Picasa Web
(few albums, only low resolution images since space restrictions). I use this service mostly because it is so easy to publish from the Picasa album software. A major drawback is the lack of storage space. It comes in handy if I want to share some holiday pictures with family and friends. - Zoom NL
(albums removed, so no images). Zoom seems to become a primary choice for Dutch enthusiast photographers. When it started it looked promising for me to act as a board for discussion and critique of photo work. But now, since so many people are simply putting up very average quality images (snapshots) I decided not to put effort into it anymore. - Photosig
(not very active yet, a few images only). This is for the more serious hobbyist. Recently started to explore this community, and it may suit my needs better then Zoom. - Webshots
(one album with shots from flowers). This is possibly the oldest image hosting service on the web. I used it a lot before I got my own server. Removed most of my images there by now, but still one album left. Simply because I do not want to say goodbye to them.
