Snow is not uncommon for the Netherlands, but it usually does not fall in large quantities … until now. At some place it was more than twenty centimetres. I believe we have to go back to 1979 to find that much. Everything comes to a grinding halt. The mail is not delivered, and the trash is not collected. People are advised to stay clear from the roads, as traffic is a mess. But the children have a lot of fun, as they celebrate holidays now!
We are living in a dead-end street, meaning only one way in or out. Not a real problem, as the way out connects to a major road allowing us to go in any direction. However, if that connection would be closed, then you may take a long side-tour through the polder. And that is what they just did! For good reasons ofcourse, but it means we are more or less confined this weekend. To get an idea what is happening I shot a few pictures. Don’t you like the bright colors of the traffic cones?
A while ago I was shooting images in the “Delftse Hout” and decided to catch the scene as a panorama this time. Here’s the (shrunken) result. Hope you like it. The full image is actually a 4183×956 pixels image (and 6 MByte large). Too big for putting on this website.
